Gaming Devicesour hardware developments for ArtificialIntelligenceacross existing andfuture products.The Principal Electrical Engineer will lead the design and development ofAI hardware systems. This role requires a blend ofin hardware engineering, machine learning, and AI algorithm development.

hardware architecture, NPUs, AI input methods,electrical engineering,System in a Chipsystem architecture,, Hardware (HW) accelerators,and Machine Learning (ML) benchmarking,Small Language Models/Large Language Models.They willalso have theability to engagein the developmentof AI algorithms to enable multiple on device experiences.Responsibilitiesdriving theHW AI experience for Gaming Devices,hardware designs to enable AI workloads and AI input,to define and develop models and workloads foron-device and NPU compute.Working closely withteams across Gaming and Microsoft to define, drive, and deliver in the end-end AI HW experience and architecture.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 14+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
  • A solid understanding of core engineering principles, hardware architecture, System in a Chip integration, HW accelerators, and NPU.
  • 4+ yearsExperience in hardware engineering with a focus on AI and machine learning and shipping HW AI features including accelerators or NPUs.
  • Prior design and implementation, with PC, embedded system architectures hardware and firmware/software.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of AI frameworks and tools such as Python, Java, or R, and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop machine learning models and AI solutions.
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and computer vision

Electrical Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Responsibilities
  • Specifying thehardware and architecture requirements for ArtificialIntelligenceexperiences (including NPUs, sensor input, and others) forgamingdeviceswhileoptimizingfor system designconstraints and cost constraints.
  • Developmentand implementation ofAI HW, models, andtechniquesto drivein game experiences.
  • Driving the definition of AI workloadsand benchmarking.
  • Optimizingperformance, power, cost, and architecturefor all aspects of AI HW related areas.
  • Working with other engineers across disciplines to design,characterize,test and debug complexAIhardware technologies forproductdevelopment.
  • Design and develop AI hardware solutions that are scalable and efficient.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI hardware into broader system architectures.
  • Stay abreast of the latest AI trends and technologies to drive innovation within the company.
  • Lead the research, testing, and implementation of machine learning algorithms and predictive modelsin hardware.
  • Utilize big data computation and storage tools to create prototypes and datasets.
  • Conduct model training, evaluation, and tuning to ensureoptimalperformance.
