The Junior SystemsEngineer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, andmaintenance of the railway organization's IT infrastructure, with a focus onvirtualization technologies, storage solutions, and applicationtroubleshooting. This role requires a solid understanding of systemsengineering principles, cloud computing, and railway-specific IT requirementsto ensure the reliability and efficiency of the organization's critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Virtualization and CloudManagement:

• Assist in the design, deployment, and administration of VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environments.
• Implement and manage virtual machines, resource pools, and high availability configurations.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate cloud-based services and infrastructure as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, including performance optimization and capacity planning.

Storage and Data Management:

• Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based storage platforms.
• Ensure the efficient and reliable storage of critical railway data, including backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage storage capacity, performance, and data protection mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues, such as data access, replication, and recovery.

Application Deployment andTroubleshooting:

• Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of railway-specific applications and systems.
• Provide support for application-level issues, including performance optimization, error resolution, and user assistance.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and subject matter experts to identify and resolve complex application-related problems.
• Document and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the railway's application landscape and support procedures.

InfrastructureMonitoring and Incident Response:

• Implement and manage monitoring tools to proactively detect and address infrastructure-related issues.
• Participate in the development and execution of incident response and disaster recovery plans.
• Coordinate with the engineering team and IT support personnel to ensure timely and effective incident resolution.
• Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure changes, incidents, and remediation efforts.

Continuous Learning andCollaboration:

• Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in systems engineering, virtualization, and cloud computing, particularly within the railway industry.
• Participate in training and certification programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with the engineering team, IT operations, and subject matter experts to share knowledge and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.

You must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field.
• 2-5 years of experience as a Junior Systems Engineer or IT Support Specialist, with a focus on the railway industry.
• Proficient in the administration and management of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
• Experience in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based storage.
• Familiarity with railway-specific applications and systems, including their deployment, configuration, and support.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex infrastructure and application-related issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and IT support personnel.
• Certifications in VMware (VCP), Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), or other relevant IT infrastructure technologies are preferred.
• Understanding of railway-specific IT requirements and compliance standards is an advantage.
