The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Provide daily technical assistance to maintenance, process and production personnel in diagnosing, troubleshooting and determining root cause failures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain, upgrade or replace legacy platforms.
  • Lead cross functional teams to recommend, initiate and complete control system improvement projects.
  • Provide control system theory and programming training to maintenance electricians, control system technologists and control system engineers.
  • Support corporate, division and plant engineering groups with the planning and installation of capital projects.
  • Ensure accuracy of plant electrical documentation including elementary drawings, process flow diagrams and P&ID drawings.
  • Apply all applicable codes, regulations, reliability strategies, corporate and OEM standards.
  • Willingness to be on-call and work different shifts to provide coverage.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a technical field from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in installation and modification of electrical control systems

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university and one (1) year of experience in installation and modification of electrical control systems

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with instrumentation and loop calibration
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC’s and Drives
  • Experience with Factory Talk HMI
  • Experience with data historians such as OSI PI is a plus
  • Experience with Delta V, Modicon, and Yokagowa is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
