Product Development Specialist

As a(n) Product Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading product and technology development programs related to liquid adhesive bonding solutions aligned to business portfolio strategy
- Collaborating with global multi-disciplinary teams to identify and implement new solutions to meet customer needs
- Generating intellectual property strategies and positions, including invention submissions, patents and 3M trade secrets.
- Contributing to the strategic direction of the business and driving growth initiatives through new product development
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (completed and verified prior to start)
- Three (3) years of product or technology development experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Knowledgeable in formulating structural adhesives, including epoxy, acrylic and urethane adhesives
- Demonstrated experience successfully developing and commercializing products, including experience with phase gate new product introduction methodologies
- Possess excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plan for design challenges and technical problem resolution
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
- Results driven and self-motivated, with a growth mindset
- Experience developing intellectual property portfolios in collaboration with legal and other technical experts
