Modern tax regulations are highly complex and dynamic, and our clients need our support with understanding what these mean for them in terms of technology, data and technology solutions, as well as data, controls, process and governance strategy. As a direct tax ERP professional at EY, you'll use experience of direct tax global rules and requirements, and knowledge of ERP functionality and additional tax solutions to help clients identify the right technology tools and manage their systems to deliver tax requirements effectively. The primary role would be to engage with clients and help to maximise the value that their ERP systems can deliver for tax, whether these systems are being implemented for the first time or clients are looking to extract more value from the existing ERP system.

  • Running large scale client Tax ERP implementations, working with senior and junior colleagues.
  • Working with client teams across all phases of the project (Global design, local requirements gathering, configuration, deployment and go live).
  • Undertaking gap analysis and identifying and presenting technology solutions that should sit alongside a client’s ERP to fulfil their direct tax requirements.
  • Build and develop our Tax ERP implementation proposition in line with regulatory changes.
  • Run workshops with clients to help capture the value in undertaking a Tax ERP implementation and help them build and develop their own business case.
  • End to end project management of Tax ERP programmes.
  • Facilitate workshops with both client and internal teams in different jurisdictions.
  • Develop key relationships with ERP vendors and explore opportunities to collaborate on tax functionality.
  • Support the business development effort to source client opportunities for the team.
  • Provide consulting support on processes, governance, and risk management for our clients, supported by documentation.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technology offerings and changes to ERP systems with a view to identifying client opportunities and enhancing our market proposition for clients.

Skills and Attributes for success

Candidates would ideally have a range of the below skills. However not all are essential.

  • An understanding of how tax functions use ERP systems in their day-to-day processes.
  • Experience with ERP implementation projects or working closely with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft D365 or other ERPs).
  • Global tax requirements gathering and deployment experience.
  • A broad understanding across all Direct taxes (WHT, CIT, Transfer Pricing etc.) and Indirect Taxes.
  • Understanding of the processes clients would typically follow for Direct Taxes
  • Experience of working on cross-jurisdiction projects, with multiple client and internal stakeholders.
  • Consulting background preferable but not required – used to interacting with clients and working on large-scale projects.
  • Ability to work with clients in a consultative way; helping them translate their tax function’s business objectives, requirements into ERP solutions.
  • Ability to build up a pipeline of opportunities by undertaking business development activities within the role.
  • Strong project management skills.
