Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Experience of developing and documenting optical fiber manufacturing process andexperience of new product introductions (NPI) would be advantageous
  • Proven experience in process engineering
  • Experience of statistical process control methods and their application
  • Experience of facilitating improvement in yield through identification and reduction of waste and stabilisation of production processes
  • Use of lean problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies and practices
  • Demonstrated ability in innovative development and practical application
  • Experience in the operation and use of high value capital equipment
  • Knowledge of cleanroom working environment and disciplines

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Capability to arrange and analyse data to identify trends and correlations
  • Knowledge of full product lifecycle from concept through to production

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Patent or track record of engineering excellency

    • Hands-on, creative approach to problem solving and the ability to translate engineering requests into working solutions

    • Must be diligent, focused and thorough, taking personal pride in their work and achievements
Responsibilities
  • Contributing to the development and management of documentation in support of process technology, operating procedures and process control requirements
  • Developing an understanding of and deploying process control tools, and analysing measurement data to identify trends and correlations
  • Operating and monitoring state-of-the-art optical fiber manufacturing equipment under the guidance of senior engineers within a quality management and safety conscious environment
  • Supporting production to ensure operating procedures are efficient and fit for purpose
  • Developing an understanding of projects to identify novel and improved manufacturing methods
  • Collaborating with equipment suppliers on technology development and process equipment requirements and improvements under the guidance of others
  • Supporting the scale-up of the new fabrication facility in Romsey
