As an Illustrator, you will create and maintain engaging, impactful, functional and user-centered illustrations for the technical content in SDKs, APIs, Quick starts, User guides, Videos, etc.
Responsibilities:
Create professional quality illustrations from draft content provided as text/orally/discussion notes/etc.
Collaborate with engineers, writers, and subject matter experts to:
Add value to existing technical documentation
Understand the objectives and requirements of users, developers, OEMs
Understand technical information (e.g, features, architecture, workflows, sample applications, etc.) and develop suitable illustrations
Contribute to change from hardcopy PDF experience to user-centered digital design practices across the organization
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements in technical illustration
Research and gather relevant information as required to create draft designs
Adhere to standard and brand approved fonts, color schemes and other design elements
Manage quality standards and ensure they are met consistently across designs
Keep track of the latest industry standards, software tools, competitor analysis and market trends
Make timely recommendations on suitable tools, best practices, processes, and applications required for technical illustrations
Help maintain a repository of technical illustration templates, samples, guidelines and standards
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Communications, English, or related field and 4+ years of experience writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
Associate's degree and 6+ years of writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
High School diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
Minimum 5 years experience as a Technical Illustrator
Strong understanding of illustration principles and techniques
Experience working with a variety of design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Graphics Suite, Figma, SketchUp, etc.
Hands on experience with 2D and 3D Animation graphics
Light photo editing and image resizing
Experience with creating interactive media
Artistic and creative skills to design for complex technical information
Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure in an extremely dynamic environment Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Adaptability and being open to constructive feedback
Excellent attention to detail and quality consciousness
Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to articulate ideas clearly
Good to have:
Experience in creating illustrations for hardware designers and software developers
Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence
Understanding of Website development and programming languages, such as HTML and CSS
Familiarity with Artificial intelligence (AI) tools on automation and optimization of designs.
