About the Role
As a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) in the Business Applications team, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with bounded management responsibilities. You will play a key role in building solutions at a global scale and delivering a world-class Legal Technology Stack for the Legal and Public Safety team.
Your responsibilities will include leading by example as an individual contributor, designing and implementing scalable technical solutions, and managing a small team of engineers. You will also serve as a technical subject matter expert and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and maintain tools like Matter Management, Public Safety Response Portal, eBilling, Export Compliance, IP Matter Management, and AI technologies.
In addition to technical leadership, you will contribute to the team's growth through mentoring, coaching, and creating opportunities for impact. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to align technical solutions with broader organizational objectives and effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Leadership:
- Design, develop, and implement end-to-end solutions for Legal & Public Safety technology systems.
- Provide hands-on contributions to architecture, code reviews, and system design.
- Drive adoption of modern technologies and best practices, improving system performance and scalability.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical execution and business priorities
Individual Contributor Focus:
- Own and maintain technical roadmaps and ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Develop and track metrics for strategic initiatives, platform performance, and QA automation.
- Oversee infrastructure and application architecture, ensuring compliance with best-fit technologies.
- Solve complex technical problems and ensure optimal system reliability.
Team Development and Management:
- Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, focusing on skill development and impact.
Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and accountability.
Conduct regular check-ins to support team growth and align on goals.
Lead by example, encouraging risk-taking and enabling teams to learn from failures.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Build trusted partnerships with business users, architects, and domain experts.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- - - - Basic Qualifications ----
- Strong understanding of software development processes, DevOps, and agile methodologies.
- Min 8 years of experience in Legal Technology systems such as Matter Management, Litigation Tracking, eBilling, eDiscovery, and IP Management.
- Experience in a leadership role managing engineers and product owners with a focus on mentoring and team development.
- Proven track record as an IC with a focus on technical design and implementation.
- Engineering design expertise in software, systems, and infrastructure.
- - - - Preferred Qualifications ----
- Experience with Salesforce, including managing and optimizing community portals and case management solutions.
- Hands-on coding experience, emphasizing reliability, readability, and testability.
- Strong knowledge of data security and compliance controls.
- Passion for technology, with a proven ability to research and adopt innovative solutions.
- Certifications in Salesforce architecture, development, or other Legal Tech tools are a plus.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$203,000 per year - USD$225,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$203,000 per year - USD$225,500 per year.
