Providing specialist engineering hydrogeological support to excavation dewatering projects, tunnelling projects and assessments for large scale infrastructure projects;

Providing specialist hydrogeological support to the scoping, supervising and interpretation of ground investigations to support engineering design;

Report writing, specifically for the interpretation of groundwater to support underground structures design, groundwater management and hydro-geomechanical behaviour assessment;

Leading staff, checking work and reviewing reports;

Promoting consideration of engineering hydrogeology to foster innovative project solutions;

Liaison with contractors, laboratories and regulators.

In addition to these key responsibilities, proven ability working in wider hydrogeological projects would be beneficial, including karst assessment identification, impact assessment on environmental aspects and contaminated groundwater assessments.

Here's what you'll need

A good honours degree in earth sciences, or equivalent

A master’s degree or doctorate in hydrogeology, or equivalent professional experience

Chartered with the ICE or Geological Society (or similar)

RoGEP Specialist or Advisor

Demonstratable track record (minimum 10 years’ experience) of technical delivery of engineering hydrogeology projects with experience of dewatering for structures, groundwater control for tunnelling projects and hydrogeological assessments for large scale infrastructure projects

Extensive experience of groundwater site characterisation, site investigation supervision and quantitative groundwater assessments

In situ hydrogeological testing – specifying and supervising in situ testing including but not limited to variable head tests, packer tests, pumping tests etc.

Long term groundwater monitoring – specifying and supervising the installation of groundwater monitoring instrumentation.

Laboratory testing – specifying/scheduling hydrogeology, hydrochemistry (including dating) laboratory testing.

Interpretation of in situ testing, monitoring data, and field and laboratory testing specifically understanding the limitations of the testing itself and uncertainties associated upscaling to construction scales.

Experience in using/supervising numerical modelling (such as SEEP/W and/or Groundwater Vistas and/or other similar software)

Groundwater management for near surface construction including but not limited to specifying, supervising and reporting on dewatering and settlement control schemes.

Excellent literacy, communication, analytical and numeracy skills

You will need to be a team player willing to work away from your base office, with a high level of personal responsibility and adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements.

Full clean driving licence

Rounded knowledge and practice of all fields of hydrogeology
