As an Application Engineering Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Utilizingand advancing knowledge of technical, product, market and competitive information.

• Workingcollaboratively and engaging your internal and external network of resources to advance technical platforms

• Applyingadvanced technical skills to support external customers while also creating new commercial positions through activities in one or more of the following areas: a) broadening an application base; b) developing a fundamental understanding of the application base; c) identifying product modifications or technical changes to enable product sales in new applications and demonstrating feasibility; (d) taking the initiative to develop new applications and (e) providing significant support on products and their applications to customers to expand opportunities and reduce risks.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of product or application development experience within a semiconductor field, in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • PhD Technical expertise in formulation for film coating, wet desmear processes for IC packaging, device engineering, and analytical characterization techniques of polymers including rheology
  • Proven leader with ability to communicate clearly across functions, including lab, manufacturing, and business teams
  • Experience in product and application development including phase-gate commercialization processes
  • Experience leading collaborative interactions with customers to successful commercialization of new products
  • Skills include excellent written and verbal communication, networking, interpersonal and leadership skills

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood at least 3-4 days per week)
