The AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) service delivers high performance virtualized storage "in the cloud" for EC2. Durable storage is a key building block for any application and as a member of the EBS you'll work alongside exceptional engineers and leaders to develop and operate one of the largest storage services in the world.We are looking for an innovative engineering manager to own, build, and grow the key-value database that supports EBS volume I/O and failover protocols. Grow and lead a group that will design, develop, test, and operate large scale distributed systems that runs on several thousands of nodes and can be resilient in different situations like infrastructure failures, network partitions, etc. As a member of the EBS leadership, you will set and meet challenging goals and by working with customers and other leaders throughout AWS. Mentorship & Career Growth

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Enterprise-scale distributed systems
- Experience with distributed consensus protocols like Paxos, Raft, etc.
- Storage Domain experience
