As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Integrating and enhancing FIPS-compliant cryptographic solutions for Akamai operating systems (e.g. disk encryption, SSH, etc).
• Collaborating with Open Source developers to upstream enhancements to relevant projects.
• Co-owning Akamai Linux distribution and build environments used by many Akamai teams.
• Porting Akamai modifications to newer versions of Akamai Linux distributions.
• Debugging and fixing issues found in a variety of testing and production environments.
• Collaborating closely with Linux kernel development and testing teams.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Be proficient in software development in C and associated build systems (e.g. gcc, ld, make), including use of diff/patch/quilt utilities for patch management.
• Have good understanding of applied cryptography and systems security (OpenSSL, OpenSSH, LUKS full-disk encryption).
• Demonstrate knowledge on Linux and OS fundamentals (booting/system startup, disk partitioning, package management)
• Have understanding of Network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, HTTP/TLS, SSH)
• Be a motivated self-starter who enjoys collaborating with a globally-distributed team but is capable of working independently.
