Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Test Program Design and Execution: Develop, coordinate, and execute comprehensive test programs for prototypes and components, focusing on high-temperature electrolysis systems.

  • Prototype Coordination: Oversee the coordination of prototype manufacturing, including the scheduling and management of incoming inspections.

  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct rigorous testing procedures, analyze test samples pre- and post-evaluation, and document all findings comprehensively.

  • Testing Setup Planning and Implementation: Plan, coordinate and implement further testing capacities for product optimization within the testing infrastructure

  • Innovation Development: Utilize test results to derive new product innovations and improve existing processes.

  • Team Leadership: Lead a small team comprising students and a technician, fostering an environment of collaboration and learning.

  • Network Collaboration: Work closely with a network of universities and suppliers to integrate cutting-edge research and materials into our development processes.

  • Facility Management: Set up and manage a hydrogen test stand in Aachen, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with the Business Development team and participate in customer project meetings, providing technical expertise and support.

  • Industry Engagement: Maintain and enhance connections within the hydrogen industry and academia to foster collaboration and innovation.

  • Education: MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience: Extensive experience in high-temperature electrolysis, materials technology, and prototype development. Previous leadership experience and a proven track record in a similar role are highly desirable.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in both English and German is required to effectively communicate in our multinational environment and with diverse stakeholders.

  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of material science and chemistry related to hydrogen technologies. Practical skills in building and testing prototypes are essential.

Work Environment:

  • The role is based in Aachen with occasional travel to conferences, customer sites, and manufacturing facilities in Canada and China. The candidate must demonstrate a readiness to travel on occasional basis and adapt to various cultural and professional settings.
