What you’ll do:
Services Legal BSI has 3 essential components :
- “Client Solutions”i.e. developing common ground and best practices across our documentation and memorialising the legal principles underpinning these .
- “All Services” Digital initiatives– which would include giving legal advice toany ofthe Cash, Trade or Securities Services Businesses where the subject matter involves digital assets , blockchain , tokenisation, working with technology companies and strategic investment partners , but also might include improvements to Services Legal`s own processes particularly with regard to matters which could be enhanced through technology solutions .
- “Pure” BSI(the subject of this role) . This will be made up of several distinct areas of expertise , all designed to connect the Services Business with its lawyers.
By way of example this will include :
- identifying and maintaining analyses ofthe laws and regulationswhich prevail across all Services Businesses and which have the most important impact on how the Services Business operates from the perspective of its financial, competitive , operational and reputational positioning . This will include facilitating a common understanding with our Business colleagues ; advocacy and participation in industry groups and finally client education on impact for them .
- understanding and advising on therisks, controls and policiesof the Services Business and advising on legal entity usage/booking ,good governance and decision making, The role will support both the Services Business and Services Legal in the execution and oversight of enterprise escalation control standards, frameworks, MCAs , reporting, tools, and escalation oversight.
What we’ll need from you:
- have an active involvement in and oversight of departmental program management and strategic initiatives ;
- have an ability to design and implement various regulatory, control and governance driven initiatives and business change projects, including working on developing appropriate policies, as well as managing procedures and controls;
- work hand in hand with and give direct support to the Services Legal BSI Head , but also active liaison with the Services Legal Senior Management Team ; and
- work with colleagues in the wider Legal Department to identify and efficiently resolve organizational issues and areas of improvement , particularly matters which could be enhanced through legal technology
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
