Key job responsibilities
• Lead and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective.
• Design, develop, and emulate engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the North America fulfillment network
• Design, develop and configure IIoT hardware for equipment, process and operator workflow improvements
• Lead and coordinate concept efforts for optimal solutions for the North America fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout
• Work with Scientists to create highly advanced simulation models and run "what-if" scenarios to help drive to optimal Hardware solutions
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure that every detail is thought through and documented using Standard Operating Procedures and/or structured change control
• Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to come up with innovative solutions.
• Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners
• Artifact (research, schematics, specifications, prototypes, 3D Models, analysis, test plans, strategic narratives, etc.) and set the standard in organization for engineering excellence.
• Able to communicate ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for team and customer. Seek diverse perspectives, listen to feedback, and are willing to change direction if it creates a better outcome. Harmonize discordant views and lead the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus).
• Travel up to 30% throughout North America, which can vary up to three weeks consecutive travel including weekends.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field; or 2+ year’s relevant Amazon experience.
- • 3+ years’ experience as Hardware engineer, product manager, manufacturing engineer, or related occupation.
- • 2+ years of experiences as a Hardware Engineering with responsibility for Controls Engineering, Controls Design, PLC and Machine Design/Innovation, Controls Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related roles
- • Experience working with and configuring sensors (vision, depth, etc.) and edge compute devices in industrial environments.
- • Experience with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Project and Outlook.
- • Knowledge in Emulate 3D
- • Experience or Knowledge in PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens and/or IPC)
- • Experience or Knowledge in Python, C++ or similar programming language
- • Experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, MATLAB, Sketchup, or other advanced design software


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related STEM field.
- • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing
- • Experience with IIoT product development, including development and configuration of sensors and edge compute devices
- • Experience developing and supporting hardware/software systems across the product life cycle
- • Experience with Lean Principles, Design and Analysis
- • Experience in Emulate 3D or other Hardware Emulation software
- • Experience in Python, C++ or similar programming language
- • Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making
- • Design-in-Safety experience.
- • Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (i.e. first order analysis, structural design behavior, electrical, mechanical systems, data analysis, systems modelling, etc.) and of the fundamentals involved in the hardware manufacturing process.
- • Demonstrated design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
