We are looking for aPrincipal Applied Scientistto lead the development of the Copilot Chat Assistant to help advertisers navigate every step of their journey. You will work with engineers and applied scientists to build systems that leverage multiple LLMs (Large Language Models), agentic frameworks (like Semantic Kernels), vector databases,

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience using machine learning to build live production systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.
• 7+ years experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.
• Experience using LLMs, agentic frameworks, RAG, vector databases to build complex production systems.

• Stay up to date on the latest advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) and ways to leverage them to solve complex business tasks.
• Work closely with engineers and product managers to understand the business requirements for Copilot Assistant.
• Lead a team of engineers and applied scientists to achieve business objectives
• Leverage agentic frameworks (such as Semantic Kernel) to create LLM workflows to automate common tasks for advertisers.
• Engineer optimal prompts for various LLM calls, using chain-of-thought and other advanced techniques.
• Use Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases to answer questions about Microsoft Advertising Platform.
• Develop tools to expand the capabilities of Copilot Assistant.
