Senior Embedded Engineer within our next generation networked systems in
Life Safety. This position will be a key end-to-end NPI contributor from
Network controller’s embedded stack (FW/HW) to overall network system design including
utilization of advanced debugging and simulation tools which comply to customer,
cybersecurity, regulatory and industrialization requirements. You’ll participate in the
applicable system, cybersecurity, hardware, firmware verification and validation reviews. In
addition, support the required activities part of the PDLC including internal and external
customer support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Extensive embedded knowledge of the network system from the embedded controller stack (inclusive of secured communications) of the network to OSI and TCP/IP to the system/topology level.

• In depth knowledge of network principles (ideally including redundancy-NFPA 72 class A, Class B, and Class N), network and security architecture, network topology (proprietary, commercial and hybrid) and switches utilizing different physical layers (i.e., single and multimode fiber , wired and wireless).

• Analysis comprises of analytical and hands-on both within the embedded stack (embedded code/HW inclusive of networking ICs from Microchip (i.e., SMSC and Vitesse Microchip), Network IC drivers, etc. as well as the system level utilizing the appropriate tool ( debugger, analyzer or sniffer).

• Provides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problems via analysis.

• Ability to translate user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to network design requirements specifications.

• Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the embedded network engineering platform development area of responsibility.

• Provide recommendations regarding alternative approaches and supported if required via conducting feasibility studies.

• Communicates with other program personnel, key stakeholders, customers and senior executives.

• Awareness of the applicable industry standards (cybersecurity (IEC62443, etc.), secured messaging, regulated industry(i.e., Fire and networking)

• Support system performance enhancements and product testing automation and simulation.


• Bachelor’s degree within a technical field and 8 – 10 years of prior relevant
experience referenced above. WE VALUE:

• Experience with JIRA/JIRA Agile/Bamboo

• Experience with Agile/SAFe practices

• Experience bringing-up and troubleshooting new hardware

• Development of a simulation environment (complex networks; including testing embedded stack)

• A Master’s Degree
