U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Principal Software Engineer – Bankcard Development (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, implementation, and support of Bankcard applications and other application systems. Specific duties include:

  • Overseeing and working on developing, architecting, and delivering Bankcard applications features in a cloud platform;
  • Leading enterprise releases by coordinating the work of technical teams;
  • Designing and developing complex Microservices in Rest APIs in Java using SpringBoot or online banking portals;
  • Using Redis cache in Microservices to reduce server overload;
  • Designing data pipelines using Kafka, webhooks, and Rest APIs;
  • Completing extensive coding and implementing advanced algorithms and data structures;
  • Developing and releasing key APIs and microservices to production;
  • Leading projects in coordination with product owners, business owners, and application architects, including designing and implementing system architecture, and assisting a team of developers to deliver projects;
  • Working with Application architects in designing systems and developing the Microservices that support the customer dashboard in online banking;
  • Using Istio framework and Kafka framework to develop microservices for circuit breaker and retry;
  • Designing and developing Apigee proxies and gateways for the service discovery, routing, filtering, rate-limiting and securing the microservices;
  • Deploying applications in cloud rancher via CI/CD Jenkins Pipelines and implementing Continuous Integration and Delivery Pipelines with Jenkins to automate builds and deployments;
  • Fixing and debugging issues in the production environment by tracing logs in Splunk queries;
  • Actively coordinating with cross functional teams, including product owners, business owners and application architects and onshore and offshore teams, to design and implement system architecture ensuring projects meet business requirements;
  • Conducting detailed performance analysis and optimizing backend API code to enhance system efficiency and reduce response times by using advanced data structures and algorithms;
  • Developing and implementing caching mechanisms using Redis to optimize data retrieval and reduce server load across microservices;
  • Utilizing Apigee proxies for secure and efficient routing as well as OAuth and JWT for authentication to ensure robust security measures across microservices; and
  • Leading and overseeing the development of critical APIs and microservices for high-impact business functions ensuring alignment with best practices and architectural standards.
  • Uses the following tools and technologies: Java, SpringBoot, Rest APIs, GraphQL, Docker, Jenkins, CI/CD, Cassandra, Rancher, Kubernetes, Kibana, Redis cache, Spring security, OAuth, SSO, JWT, Apigee, Git, Kafka, Webhooks, SQL Server, SonarQube, JIRA, BlackDuck, Fortify, HTML5, CSS, JMS and Splunk.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 2 years of experience in a software development occupation.
