The role builds, maintains and improves capabilities, technologies and systems to provide applications in a virtual environment based on MS Azure Virtual Desktop Technology.
Specialist advice
- Actively maintains knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
- Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the building, running and maintaining of an AVD based virtual environment.
- Testing. Reviews requirements and specifications and defines test conditions.
- Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes.
- Analyses and reports test activities and results.
- Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
- Collaborates with other specialists, where appropriate.
Emerging technology monitoring
- Supports monitoring of the external environment and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate the potential impacts, threats, and opportunities to the organization.
- Contributes to the creation of reports, technology road mapping and the sharing of knowledge and insights
System build and run- Set up and configure AVD environments, including host pools and session hosts
- Manage user access and permissions, including assigning users to appropriate host pools and managing profiles.
- Regularly monitor the performance of the AVD environment, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring optimal performance.
- Implement security measures to protect data and resources and managing access controls.
- Optimize resource allocation and scaling based on user demand and performance metrics to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
- Regularly update and patch operating systems and applications to ensure security and compliance.
- Maintain and supervise detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and changes to support troubleshooting and future upgrades.
- Provide 3rd level support for users experiencing issues, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate with Microsoft support as needed.
- Monitor and manage costs associated with the AVD deployment, optimize expenses.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient spoken and written command of English
- At least 5-year experience in IT
- 2 years of experience in relevant area
- Understanding of different culture
- Managed critical elements and cross functional and regional projects
