This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of infrastructure to assist with the deployment and operations of cloud services using Terraform, AWS, CloudFormation, Bitbucket, Docker, ECS, Kubernetes and networking components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support for internal users of our corporate network and infrastructure
- Work with a cross functional team of developers, designers, testers, and product owners to design and develop quality software solutions.
- Develop infrastructure using AWS CLI, GUI, and Infrastructure as Code scripting (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc)
- Build continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and automation
- Write scripts in Python and other scripting languages
- Operational support solutions, responding to production alarms on a rostered basis
- Support the growth of teammates and engineering culture
- Innovate our development processes to ensure that we remain agile
- Review code from other developers and constructively giving improvement suggestions and advice
- Be an advocate for high quality solutions (code, solution design, user interface, testability, maintainability)
- Focus on creating simple, maintainable solutions
YOU MUST HAVE
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, a similar discipline or equivalent work experience
- Practical experience developing software solutions in a comparable technology stack
WE VALUE
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g: Jenkins, CircleCI, TravisCI, BitBucket Pipelines, AWS Pipelines etc)
- Understanding of containerisation with technologies like (i.e: docker-compose, Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate).
- Experience with distributed logging, monitoring, and alerting (e.g: NewRelic, Cloudwatch, ELK, Graphite, Statsd, Prometheus, Sumologic, Datadog).
- Experience with a range of storage engines (e.g: Postgres, Elasticsearch, Aurora, MongoDB, Redis)
- Experience with AWS and its best practices.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux Environments.
- Experience with building infrastructure as code with modern automation tools (e.g: Terraform, Cloudformation, etc).
- Understanding of how web applications work, from the underlying network protocols (HTTP, TCP) through to application (Apache, Nginx), browser behaviour and everything in between
