The Role

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define, design and implement the new Payment Operations Readiness function. Engage with stakeholders to define services, metrics, and processes (to include controls and roles andresponsibilities).Design organization and identify resources and process gaps across Payment Operations, Shared Services Operations, Technology and Global Treasury Management
  • Maintain a rolling 18-month view of change based on inputs from Payment Transformation, Technology andGlobal Treasury Managementand align impacts payment operations team. This includes small changes that can occur daily.
  • Execute on-going routines to track status, drive awareness and address issues with Payment Operations readiness for the Change. Define and track execution of all key Readiness tasks
  • Identify and develop change champions within each payment ops team who are capable of assessing change impacts and executing readiness tasks
  • Drive transparency and awareness via weekly ‘change readiness health dashboards

This role must have significant stature and authority to engage with senior stakeholders and possess the following leadership competencies:

A strong process mindset to be able to define a complementary process, to ensure all the right people are engagement at the right time for each change (including senior payment ops leaders), defining and validating all key readiness activities have occurred for each change, and escalating any issues from a payment operations lens to senior leaders.

Executive Presence / Command and Control: As an senior individual contributor, this role will need to collaborate and build trust with many senior stakeholders across many functions to ensure the objectives of the role are understood and agreed upon as the change processes are enhanced and optimized over the next 3-5 years.

Problem Solving: Ability to quickly assess complex problems and anticipate issues and risks, then pulling the key SMEs and key decision makers to address. As a senior individual contributor, this role will need to rely on others and thus must possess the ability to lead and influence senior leaders across WF. Must have and Operations mindset to be able to identify and mitigate potential issues.

Strategic Planning and Execution: Capable of designing and implementing a target operating model for this new function (people, process, data and technology). Ability to step back, articulate and document a target state (people, process, technology) aligned to Client needs, WF and Global Operations priorities, Industry trends and benchmarks and SWOT assessment of current capabilities. Ability to develop and track progress on executable roadmap to include aligning all the key functions, stakeholders and influencing key leaders to make progress and get tangible outcomes.

Data Driven: Will need to define and then create a capability that produces key metrics that represent the ‘health’ of each change event. Leverage data at all times to drive decision making. Ability to define and design the key metrics / information that proactively provide insights to the processes and/or issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ year experience in large financial services organization
  • 5+ years of assessing and managing risks and controls
  • 5+ year experience in driving change at large organizations
  • BS in Finance, Computer / Data Science or other analytical discipline


Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • 10+ years experience in operational excellence (DMAIC approach to problem solving and implementing continuous improvement for the Customer)
  • Experience in transforming while operating a critical function.
  • 10+ years experience with Payment functions
  • 5+ years experience with large scale Technology platforms
  • 10+ Years experience in engaging and communicating with senior leader
  • 5+ year experience in driving change at large organizations Top tier Strategy and/or Management Consulting experience
  • Extensive experience within financial services industry, and preferably will have worked in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a focus on execution.
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities.
  • A clear and concise communication style that can simplify the complex and ensure a common understanding can be quickly reached.
  • Confidence to meet with the most senior leaders of Wells Fargo and represent Wholesale Operations.
  • Strong analysis skills to get to the core of issues.
  • High EQ to help influence a broad constituency of stakeholders.
