DESCRIPTION

Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) Data Team is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. This position will be responsible for assisting in creating our DataMarketplace for data management systems to support our Data as a Product strategy. The data engineer is expected to translate business strategies and requirements into world-class technical solutions, applications, and process designs. The role also requires the data engineer to help develop, optimize, and oversee OTS’s conceptual and logical data systems including all aspects related to development, infrastructure, data, and configuration management perspectives, preparing architect reports, monitoring the system, and supervising system migrations.
Key job responsibilities
• Supporting development of AWS Data orchestration layer through CDK built on AWS EMR, utilizing Airflow, working across cross functional teams.
• Provide technical oversight and recommendations on data infrastructure
• Participate in and lead discovery sessions with primary business stakeholders to understand their data needs and support in development of their data asset needs.
• Support solution delivery by providing insights to the application development teams and project managers that plan and execute delivery activities
• Support success for the quality of the implemented solution and its adherence to technology strategies, standards, and best practices
• Support the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of solution management methodologies, including obtaining feedback after the solution has been implemented
• Assist in the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of modern data architectures to support large scale data solutions
- In-depth knowledge of data patterns to support architectures and data management concepts/processes including ETL/ELT, Data Mesh, date lake, data lakehouse, data warehouse, data streaming, data virtualization, etc
- Strong understanding of data modeling (dimensional, data vault, etc.) principles and techniques based on established methodologies
- Strong knowledge of ETL tools such as Informatica, Airflow, etc. as well as standards and best practices for ETL development frameworks
- Strong knowledge of data governance framework principles and vendor platforms
- Experience with data manipulation and visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, etc
- Strong knowledge of Python and SQL and demonstrated ability to apply to a wide variety of business requirements
- Strong knowledge in data warehousing concepts and data platforms and architecture
- Experience in building data through Code (CDK).
- Knowledge of MDM concepts and solutions
- Demonstrated experience deploying data solutions in Big Data platforms
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Experience working within multidisciplinary, distributed, and collaborative environments


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA, MS, or MA in in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Related professional certifications and/or training is considered an asset
- Exceptional creative reasoning and design skills to accomplish their duties and projects efficiently
