The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform mechanical design of parts, assemblies, and tooling using Creo and generate drawings with GD&T for high performance wafer positioning/motion stages and wafer chucks. They will conduct design reviews, procure prototypes, and work with vendors for various parts and assemblies. The engineer will drive prototype testing, system integration, and stage servo tuning. They will test and qualify stages to ensure they meet performance and reliability requirements. They will create documents and procedure formanufacturing/assemblyof various systems and assemblies to ensure successful transition to manufacturing.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will also perform analysis and simulations, such as structural, thermal, vibration/modal FEAs, motorcurrent/voltage/powercalculations, etc. This position also requires working with other engineering groups such as controls engineers, systems engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration and to optimize performance.
7+ years of experience in mechanical design/solid modeling
Proficient in Creo/Solidworks or similar 3D modeling tools
Proficient in structural, thermal, and vibration/modal FEA
DFM experience with machining, sheet metals, and castings
Knowledge of analysis tools such as Python or Matlab
Experience implementing various types of rotary bearings/linear guides and/or air bearings
Design experience of X,Y sub-micron positioning stages
Experience in vibration optimization and design for high stiffness to weight ratio
Vibration and modal testing using accelerometers, impact hammer, etc.
Experience with implementation/use of high-resolution feedback devices such as optical encoders and laser interferometer
Semiconductor capital equipment design experience
Motion control and servo tuning
