APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Integrate golden calibration algorithms for wireless transceivers in automation infrastructure using communication theory concepts and key metrics like EVM and sensitivity. Validate and characterize algorithms on real silicon alongside PHY, MAC, RFIC, and digital circuit designers. Bring up and take to production powerful physical layer wireless communication system algorithms for every high data rate applications. Design and implement the bring-up infrastructure including chip drivers, debug tools, and automation environment using programming languages and tools such as Python, Matlab, and/or C & C++. Champion the campaigns through the bring-up, tuning, characterization, and other phases of post-silicon chip development. Develop the test plans, carry out test campaigns, collect and analyze test results; identify the root-cause, and debug issues. Generate reports and resolve triage issues within the wireless silicon design group on the radio and PHY for wireless SoC products. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Experience and/or education must include the following:
  • Applying communication theory and protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) to analyze RF/Physical layer performance in wireless chipsets.
  • Employing laboratory equipment such as VSG (Vector Signal Generator), Power Meter, and Oscilloscope to measure RF metrics related to Transmit chain like EVM (Error Vector Magnitude), Spectral Mask, Power accuracy, etc.
  • Employing laboratory equipment such as VSA (Vector Signal Analyzer), and Spectrum Analyzer to measure RF metrics related to Receive chain like sensitivity, PER floor, Max input level, etc.
  • Using MATLAB to analyze and debug the quality of modulated signals such as OFDM, DSSS, and CCK.
  • Developing automation solutions using Python including equipment drivers, debugging tools, automation scripts, database interfaces, and reporting tools.
  • Creating MATLAB solutions to generate modulated OFDM frames compliant with protocols.
  • Employing GitHub and Gitlab for source code management, maintain CI/CD pipelines to automated testing and deployment process.
