Serves as the Data Governance Exam Lead for the Finance Data. Responsible for leading execution activities relating to Finance interactions with regulators, including responding to queries raised in the normal course of business outside of specific examinations. Requires a thorough understanding of the strategic direction of a chief data office (CDO) and specific knowledge of a CDO function within Finance is preferable. Experience in working with external Regulators and managing exams is required. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally and externally, often at a senior level. Responsible for representing Finance in data related exams and determining a consistent strategy to manage multiple requests. Accountable for ensuring Finance CDO responds to requests with clear, comprehensive, and timely responses. Accountable for initiative-taking management of relationships and identifying trends and issues. This role reports directly to the Finance Data Quality and Remediation Lead.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and respond to interactions with regulators for Finance FCDO including but not limited to being the in-business point of contact for all examinations, including working across Finance in preparing responses, being responsible for the preparation of all requested materials and ensuring appropriate review across FCDO, Finance Senior Management and Legal. Where needed attending regulatory meetings with control functions and business unit personnel.
- Partnering with the Chief Data Office (CDO) to respond to enterprise level exams and queries.
- Participation in data governance programs, principles, policy, practices, and standards including industry best practices.
- Drive progress for continued development of enterprise-wide guiding principles, policies, processes, and practices
- Providing regular updates to management (including prepare business personnel for meetings with regulators) regarding the matters being managed, including, but not limited to, collection, tracking and resolution of queries, prepare and review materials requested to ensure completeness and responsiveness of submissions, and the timely escalation and resolution of potential issues.
- Communicating extensively (orally and in writing) and developing effective relationships with regulators.
- Establishing and developing effective relationships within Finance, Citigroup senior management, front line, second line (including independent risk, HR, and Legal) and Internal Audit as relevant to Regulatory interactions
- Identifying mitigating facts and circumstances (as applicable) to respond to potential issues identified during reviews and examinations, pre-exam sessions and post exam sessions.
- Monitoring the full lifecycle of regulatory responses and identified exam issues ensuring that matters are communicated, assigned responsibility, and tracked to resolution.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

- Effective negotiation skills, an initiative-taking and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views. Strong presentation and relationship management skills are essential.
