Fulfill tasks as a wastewater process engineer, including but not limited to: Design and engineer wastewater treatment processes to meet specific project requirements and regulatory standards. Continuously evaluate and optimize wastewater treatment processes to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance environmental performance. Investigate and resolve operational issues, equipment failures, and process upsets to maintain uninterrupted wastewater treatment operations. Prepare detailed engineering reports, process documentation, and regulatory reports as required by project needs and regulatory agencies. Fulfill tasks as a data scientist, including but not limited to: Identify relevant data sources and implement automated data collection processes. Perform preprocessing and quality control on both structured and unstructured data. Conduct in-depth analysis of vast datasets to uncover valuable trends and patterns. Develop predictive models and machine-learning algorithms to provide benefits to clients and contribute to environmental sustainability. Employ ensemble modelling techniques to combine multiple models effectively. Collaborate closely with Jacobs' extensive team of subject matter experts and solution development teams. Propose innovative technical solutions and strategies to address complex business challenges, including the creation of digital twin applications.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a PhD or foreign equivalent in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Scientific Computing / Data Science or related field and 1 year of work experience in Environmental Consulting, Research Assistant or closely related occupation. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Scientific Computing / Data Science or related field and 3 years of work experience in Environmental Consulting, Research Assistant or closely related occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Special Skills or Other Requirements: Wastewater Treatment Skills and Experience. Expertise/ knowledge of design, operation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment facilities. expertise/ knowledge of biological wastewater treatment processes. Including, but not limited to nitrification, denitrification, enhanced biological phosphorus removal, and membrane aerated biofilms. Expertise/ knowledge of wastewater process modeling software such as BioWin™, Sumo© or equivalent simulators. Data Science Experience. Expertise/ knowledge development toolboxes in common programing languages (Python, R etc.) to automate large amounts of data processing or wastewater process simulations. Expertise/ knowledge of deployment cloud-based solutions (e.g. Azure, Palantir) for wastewater treatment process modeling. Expertise/ knowledge of development data-driven or machine learning solutions for wastewater process instrumentation, control, and automation. Research: expertise/ knowledge of conducting research and development (R&D) projects, including but not limited in critical thinking, question formulation, literature review, and oral presentation.
