Single point of contact in all Fremont BIW shops for joining engineering, such as: equipment installation, equipment operation, joint development, maintenance escalation, standardization, and breakdown resolution
Optimize joining processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Robot path optimization, sequencing, parameter setup
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, quality, process to ensure process stability and performance
Project support during factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, validation, and transfer of ownership to production teams related to manufacturing engineering CapEx projects
Joint development & validation: creating & validating parameters and joining schedules for unique stack-ups and joints in all joining applications (coupon testing & optimization)
Conduct feasibility studies for cost reduction, quality improvement, efficiency improvement & implement countermeasures to achieve best-in-class joining performance
Structure improvement & standardization plans with long term vision to achieve company and department objectives
Study technologies to expert-level of understanding, utilizing internal & external technical resources to fully understand, teach and lead new / newly implemented technologies
Support / assist Maintenance in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures. Provide technical training to maintenance, production, and other internal resource groups
Working in a hands-on capacity in a production environment to fully understand scope, impact, and associated challenges. Provide technical support to production, maintenance, quality, and other groups as required
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience with joining equipment and processes for BIW automotive: Self piercing rivet, remote welding, spot welding, material dispensing and brazing
Able to work AWS night shift (12hr shift) in production and office environment
Experience in the automotive BIW industry is highly preferred
Proficient in 2D & 3D software to read diagrams and joining content related to product design
Understanding of quality control systems, 6-sigma, lean manufacturing
Kuka & Fanuc experience for day-to-day joining process (robot path & position teaching is a plus)
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Able to work flexible hours and schedules as required
