As an
Advanced Wastewater Treatment Distillation Engineer Specialist,you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Working with Management and Engineering to plan and lead effort to ensure smooth start-up and ongoing operations of the distillation and ion exchange processes of the 3M Decatur Advanced Water Treatment operation for PFOS/PFAS removal.
- Providing process engineering expertise to support the 3M Decatur Advanced Water Treatment facilities.
- Initiate, identify, recommend, and oversee wastewater treatment programs to improve: 1) process safety and health/environmental impact, and 2) cost and reliability.
- Coordinate with division Environmental Compliance group to ensure we are hitting and maintaining key metrics for local, state and federal agencies.
- Working with site safety and industrial hygiene to ensure a safe working environmental for Wastewater Treatment staff. This includes leading investigation teams and ensuring proper response, reporting, and investigation of incidents.
- Monitoring process data trends, key process indicators and monthly department spend.
- Participating in management of change and project review meetings with management.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering and/or Chemistry discipline from an accredited institution
- Ten (10) years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Reactive Chemistry, Manufacturing Technology, Process Engineering,Manufacturing/ProductionOperations, and/or Environmental Compliance in a private, public, government or military environment
- Ten (10) years of combined experience with distillation columns, including operations and engineering of manufacturing scale distillation processes, troubleshooting distillation processes, and distillation process startup
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience with water and wastewater treatment or related processes (Private, Public, Government or Military).
- Experience in project management.
- Strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively in teams.
