Job Responsibilities
This role has two areas of responsibilities: Support administration of Estimation Risk Committees (ERCs) and Business Reviews, and lead model governance projects.
ERCs provides oversight of the governance framework as specified in the Estimations and Model Risk Management policy and its sub policies. The Committees also have responsibility to set the prioritization of estimations risk activities, drive consistency through review of Line of Business activities, review reporting and resolve escalated issues. The associate role will be responsible for:
- Working with Committee co-chairs to setup meeting agenda and organize preparatory meetings
- Ensure oversight responsibilities documented in the Committee charter are met
- Guide presenters on presentation content, assemble and distribute final documents
- Take meeting minutes and provide meeting documents for regulatory and audit requests
- Advance to Committee Secretary of certain ERCs and operate them independently upon obtaining sufficient experience
- Support administration of these Business Reviews where individual model validation teams provide updates on their respective area to the head of MRGR
The Chief Operating Office (COO) is tasked with various model governance projects. The following activities are typical of such projects and require a good understanding of model risk processes:
- Navigate complex model risk systems and reporting
- Analyze model risk data for various ad-hoc reporting
- Implement process improvements
- Manage system enhancements
- Communicate to senior management and stakeholders across the firm
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with other functional areas in the firm on model-related issues, and produce clear and concise documents for internal and external (regulatory) consumption
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self-motivated, organized and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Intellectually curious with a proven ability to learn quickly
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
