JD- Senior Advanced Optics R&D Engineer
Design and develop Aircraft Lighting systems, required to perform Optical Analysis, Light Source selection, secondary optical design, simulation using LightTools or similar simulation programs, testing, obsolescence resolution, debugging in-service issues and HW product development & support activities as a member of Optical team. Additional responsibilities may include task planning, preparation of schedules and estimates, resolving technical problems with the customer, and leading technical design / reviews with both internal & external customers.
Masters in Optical Engineering/Physics with Optics specialization having min. 10 years of relevant experience post M. Sc/M. Tech.
Optical Design experience for Lighting related products
Perform design, development, and work closely with CAD engineers & suppliers for manufacturing of Aircraft/Airfield Lighting systems
Knowledge of, and substantial experience in, optical physics & the principles of illumination system design & manufacture
Good understanding of refractive and reflective optics
Good understanding of Light source technologies i.e LEDs, Lasers etc.
Knowledge of fiber optics is added advantage.
Perform opto-mechanical tolerance analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define optical requirements and specifications
Design and develop complex optical systems, Reflectors, TIR, Lens, components, and assemblies.
Demonstrated experience of testing of Light Sources and Light assemblies using Integrating sphere, Photo-Goniometer and power meters
Knowledge of both Sequential and non-sequential ray tracing is added advantage.
Familiarity with Military and Aerospace Standards is preferred.
Should take ownership on Obsolescence resolution and re-design to support production
Should be well skilled to identify cost take-out opportunities in field products
Should be able to debug, identify root cause and recommend corrective action on in-service issues of fielded products.

Clear & concise communication skills- verbal & written; capable technical writing skills desired.
