A Space and Defense Security Architect utilizes their technical and communications skills to deliver design artifacts for highly secure technology products with unwavering professionalism. This includes:

  • Interface with the customers (US Government/NATO and Commercial).
  • Research standards based wireless communication for space and defense and develop appropriate technology solutions.
  • Author Requirements and Design documents for product development per Customer Specifications.
  • Contribute to Nokia Technology roadmaps and Intellectual property.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As part of the team, you will:

  • Serve as technical architecture lead for space, defense and public safety Radio Network feature and platform designs leveraging Nokia products and develop Intellectual Property for technical advancements.
  • Provide direction and set expectations for the design and development of prototype systems geared toward non-traditional 5G/NextG Space and Defense system use cases.
  • Share team subject matter expertise (SME) to the customer on Technology areas such as: (vRAN, Low Size Weight and Power (SWaP) Platforms, Mesh/IAB Backhaul Networks, Non-terrestrial Networks (NTN)/High Altitude Platforms (HAPS) Communication Platforms, Security, Reliability/Availability/Quality, SWaP, Comm (CP/OAM), Signal Processing, RF).
  • Work across the teams including Platform, Security, Reliability/Availability/Quality, SWaP, Comm (CP/OAM for RAN/Core), Signal Processing, RF and other requirements/architecture areas to develop integrated solutions.
  • Lead technical research and evaluation of technical approaches for implementing new RF / beamforming antenna capabilities required to operate within customer-defined use cases.
  • Evaluate and author responses to sections of Request for Information (RFI)/ Request for Proposal (RFP) offerings and Statement of Work descriptions for project partners and 3rd party vendors.
  • Author system requirements, architecture, and design documents for project deliverables for both Nokia Internal Development Units and Third-Party Industry partners where applicable.
  • Lead Space and Defense Technology Roadmap development and alignment with product roadmaps.
  • Establish and manage technical partner relationships with third parties required to fulfill project obligations.
  • Contribute to the creation of project work breakdown structure, schedule, and effort estimation.
  • Lead pre- and post-sale customer interactionss

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You must have:

  • At least 10 years of wireless communication system technical architecture experience in the areas of (Computing Platforms, RF design, SW Architecture, System Performance)
  • Subject matter design expertise in one or more wireless technology areas (5G 3GPP Standards, RF Radio Design, Call Processing, Layer 1 Phy level, Layer 2/3 application)
  • Bachelor's degree required in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or related
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • The ability to handle multiple projects concurrently is a must

It would be nice if you also have:

  • Knowledge of System on a Chip (SOC), Board Level Compute Processing, beam steering methodology, and/or RF system analysis is a plus
  • Simulation and modeling experience using MATLAB or similar environment
  • Customer and partner/vendor relationship management experience
