You will work closely with other Managers locally, within the region, and globally in pursuits and engagement delivery. You will be expected to take a leadership role, and influence outcomes without direct authority. You'll receive minimal direction on broad goals/revenue targets.
Your Key Expectation and Responsibilities
Manage overall account engagement and client relationship as the primary point of contact for Business Consulting.
Shows commercial awareness by actively identifying potential business opportunities and making sales.
Lead proposal preparation, maintain a robust pipeline, and convert leads and proposals to projects.
Establish confidence and trust with clients to set a strong foundation for successful client engagements.
Coordinate delivery of Business Consulting projects and actively seek opportunities to recommend/sell additional EY services, as appropriate.
Frequently engage the market through Seminars, workshops, surveys and breakfast meetings with industry players.
Communicate and engage frequently with public and private sector practitioners in the areas of social, financial, and economic inclusion to ensure continued market visibility and alignment of service offerings to the market needs.
Prioritize multiple tasks across several internal groups, ensuring high-quality outputs and timely completion, taking ultimate accountability for meeting established deadlines.
Ensure exceptional client services delivery that aligns with EY standards and guidelines.
Manage the overall profitability of Business Consulting engagements.
Drive firm revenue by regularly reviewing and analysing costs charged to an account, and overall team utilisation.
Oversee client engagements and finance management as it relates to services provided and related supplemental work included in client accounts in assigned portfolio such as invoicing, A/R management, work-in-progress and margin monitoring, etc.
Leverage internal and external resources to expand consulting work and generate new opportunities.
Collaborate across EY to develop and deliver holistic solutions addressing client challenges.
Manage client engagements including Quality & Risk Management requirements as per EY policies.
Lead teams or parts of teams on engagements and maintain a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks and escalate issues as appropriate.
Create a positive learning culture, coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.
Serve clients across the financial services, consumer products, government and public sector.
Demonstrate cross sector experience including a good understanding of enterprise risk management, financial services risk management and internal audit.
Client Responsibilities:
Help manage financial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders.
Participate in business development initiatives including developing local thought leadership.
Assist with workshops and facilitation.
Assist with complex problem solving of client issues.
Build strong internal relationships within Consulting Service line and with other service lines across EY.
Help build and train a strong business consulting team.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Experience interacting with senior-level management and a strong track record of successful client management and engagement.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple, complex projects and be able to identify and work with details and ensure follow-up and completion.
Outstanding written, verbal, and listening skills are required, with the ability to understand what is communicated orally and an urgency to resolve issues quickly and appropriately is a must.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to quickly build rapport and establish trust and understanding with others.
Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, familiarity with ERP systems or web-based portal applications (e.g., SharePoint).
A personal drive to solve critical issues across Africa, going above and beyond to develop and deliver transformative solutions.
To qualify for the role, you must have
Proven experience with the private sector, government, development partners, financial institutions, NGOs, or community-based organizations.
Minimum of five (5) years leading high-performing teams in problem-solving and analytical roles; consulting management experience (2+ years) at a leading firm is preferred.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis abilities.
Skilled in presenting information concisely and insightfully, both in written and oral formats.
Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, self-driven environment.
MBA, Economics, Public Administration/Policy, or related master’s degree with an excellent academic record; bachelor’s degree with at least second-class upper honors.
Relevant body memberships (e.g., CPA, CDFA) are advantageous.
In-depth understanding of the Tanzanian market and industry trends.
Competence in establishing business procedures and closing performance gaps.
Expertise in addressing complex issues and coordinating cross-functional work.
Comfortable with C-level interactions and consultative selling, with the ability to build productive relationships.
Adept at identifying services to meet client needs and influencing on strategy formulation.
Strong client relationship management with a track record of high satisfaction.
Confidence in commanding respect and maintaining composure in challenging situations.
Strong teamwork and client-influencing skills for effective collaboration.
Capable of leading multiple teams and clients.
Strong skills in managing projects and closing engagements.
Experience in recruiting and professional development.
Understanding of industry best practices and customer engagement challenges.
