Role Description

The Material Metrology DivisionFremont, CA. You will have the opportunity to develop electronics and electrical systems for metrology systems, where your analog and mixed-signal circuit, and embedded system design skills can be fully utilized. You will participate in a team of electrical engineers and work directly with scientists to deliver innovative electrical/electronic solutions from research pathfinding to product realization.

Pay Range: $115,000 - $145,000k Annually (DOE)

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to improve production capacity and quality of PCBAs and controller systems for metrology equipment, ensuring scalability and efficiency in design and manufacturing processes.
  • Elevate the quality of PCBAs and controller systems, optimizing performance and reliability to meet industry standards and exceed customer expectations. Work closely with vendors and contract manufacturers to address design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT) issues, ensuring optimal design and manufacturing outcomes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot system integration issues, achieving a high yield rate to reduce cycle time.
  • Utilize PCBAs CAD tools, preferably Altium, to design PCBAs and optimize its design/release process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and industry standards. Lead product life cycle design activities, including formulating system and PCBAs requirements, facilitating design reviews, and managing design document release via the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Extensive experience with Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout design.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing component footprint libraries.
  • Strong skills in PCBA manufacturing processes and collaboration with PCB board houses.
  • Ability to write clear and concise Engineering Change Orders and requests.
  • Experience in developing design requirement documents, test protocols and procedures.
  • Perform failure mode analysis and create test reports to support troubleshooting and design improvements.
  • Good troubleshooting skills with a willingness to work in a lab environment.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, LCR meters, and logic analyzers, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address and fix issues quickly.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to engineering tasks and project management.
