Job Summary (Primary function)
The Tax Manager is a newly created role that will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of tax-related financial activities within the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of ASC 740 and the ability to prepare and review complex tax calculations. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in using OneSource Tax Provision, familiarity with a wide range of domestic and international tax concepts, and the ability to work with large datasets.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
• Lead preparer of quarterly and annual tax provision workpapers, including tax footnote and other disclosures in accordance with relevant US GAAP, SEC and other authoritative guidance.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed effective tax rate analytics and other relevant summaries for management reporting.
• Prepare tax journal entries and reconcile tax accounts.
• Prepare quarterly intercompany journal entries
• Maintain inventory of uncertain tax positions.
• Coordinate the preparation and retention of SOX documentation for internal and external audits.
• Assist team members based in Europe and Asia with preparing local country income tax provisions.
• Coordinate and interact with financial statement auditors.
• Assist with modeling and illustrating tax impacts of proposed legislation.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
• BS or BA in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in public or industry-specific tax function; combination of Big 4 and industry experience is preferred.
• Pharma and/or intellectual property intensive industry experience preferred.
• Strong aptitude for identifying process improvements, including the use of tax technology and automation.
• Strong written and oral communicator.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent skills in One Source Tax Provision and MS Excel.
• Experience working with SAP and Hyperion is preferred.
• Knowledge of ASC 740 and financial reporting for income taxes.
• Knowledge of US tax rules and familiarity with transfer pricing and US-international tax concepts.
• Income tax compliance experience is preferred.
