What You’ll Do What You’ll Bring
- Plan, organize, direct, and conduct industrialization related activities within the Fastener supply chain team for the Tesla Semi program
- Provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at Suppliers and lead supplier improvements in scalability, lead time, cost, and quality; from design through mass production
- Lead new supplier selection and qualification assessment to ensure the ability to meet process performance, parts quality, and delivery expectation
- Become the subject matter expert in Fastening technologies to properly facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
- Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes
- Validate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar experience, automotive and fastener-related experience a plus
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection and experience in Quality Systems a plus: PPAP/APQP processes
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level and ability to define and execute a project using project management techniques
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and have excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional areas with proven results in meeting customer requirements and expectations
- Strong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner, must be familiar with SPC and data analysis
- An average of 20 - 30% travel, domestic and international, possibly on short notice
