RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and coordinates construction, engineering, and contract administration activities with Project Managers, the Authority's General Engineering Consultant, Resident Engineers, Contract Administrators, and other MARTA staff.
  • Review, comment, and provide suggested changes to proposed construction contract documents and plans before advertising and bidding.
  • Prepares engineering designs and work specifications and performs quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
  • Will be responsible for leading and developing supplier selection (RFP, scorecard) primarily for supporting General Contractor guidelines and MARTA procedures. This involves organizing and leading Integrated Detail Engineering protocol with internal, external, and customer resources, defining process and systems flows of sites, finalizing budgets and schedules, and providing technical support throughout the project implementation.
  • Will provide technical oversight, review, and guidance in the design of mainline and siding track alignments, special trackwork, rail yards, and other rail transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Maintains up-to-date computerized records of all contract data.
  • Works with the Contract Administrators to finalize and prepare contract change orders.
  • Coordinates administration of construction contracts.
  • Manages field activities related to pay applications and works with the Contract Administrator to finalize and prepare the pay applications.
  • Regularly updates information in Project Manager (P6)/other databases.
  • Performs field inspections on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintains submittal register.
Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Registered professional engineer (NCEES registration preferred)

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including project management proficiency
  • Five years of industry experience on rail projects and track/civil design with a preference for working knowledge of Class I, short line, and regional railroads.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
