Jacobs Power Solutions team is at the forefront of the energy transition supporting our key clients (developers, tier one energy companies, utilities, and asset owners) in their pursuit to reduce carbon emissions and reach NetZero. The Power Solutions team partner with clients to aid their development, conduct feasibility studies, deliver detailed power system studies along with asset management and future network planning. We are working on some of the most iconic projects in Australia reshaping our energy system. This team forms part of the broader APAC Energy & Power group offering complete solutions in the power industry including Transmission & Distribution, Power Generation, New Energy and Advisory and Project Solutions. Here's what you'll need
We’re looking for a Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our team. Here at Jacobs, you’ll use Power System modelling software including PSS/E, PSCAD and PowerFactory to deliver various network planning studies to assist network owners with shaping the future electricity network and integration of BESS, On and Offshore Wind farm developments, Solar Power, Hydrogen developments, synchronous condensers, hybrid applications, Electric Vehicles and many other new and developing technologies. You’ll liaise with the Jacobs Energy & Power Group on multidisciplinary projects in Australia and New Zealand, and further afield in the UK, Europe, US, and Asia. You’ll be exposed to business development activities and contribute and support development of internal strategies and project management of large power projects. We are flexible and open to candidates working from any Jacobs Australia office. We hope to see those with experience in project engineering and delivery in power systemstudies from a consulting environment, along with a tertiary degree in a related Electrical Engineering field. Please read on to find out more about these exciting opportunities: - Provide in depth understanding in power systems, including power system planning studies for a range of renewable energy sources. - Lead the development and delivery of client projects with a particular focus on power system analysis, including network connections, application of regulatory requirements, network planning and compliance and reliability analysis. - Provide effective communication and collaboration, with the aptitude to support the technical direction of proposal development. - Lead studies in one of the following power system software packages: PSCAD, PSS/E or PowerFactory. Ability to utilise Python will also be highly regarded. We will support training in the software packages required. - Manage power system issues and power system planning studies and for a range of renewable energy sources. - Ability to oversee the development and delivery of client projects with a particular focus on power system analysis, including network connections, application of regulatory requirements, network planning and compliance and reliability analysis. - Offer technical guidance in Sales and proactively participate in Client engagement and business development opportunities. - Support the Technical Director to shape the direction of the technical practice based on future focused insights, thought leadership and Jacobs’ vision. - Effective communicator and collaborator, with the aptitude to articulate the technical direction of proposal development. - Provide mentoring and development to less experienced engineers, contributing to Jacobs professional development framework.
