Essential responsibilities

Assignments may include soldering, setting up and running data acquisition equipment for tests, assembling prototype parts and systems, making test fixtures, using electrical test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers, etc) to test new designs, documenting test results, troubleshooting designs, and maintaining a tidy electrical lab.

  • Prototype, rework, and design circuits to improve designs to develop world class CT scanners
  • Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusions
  • Perform software and hardware evaluation and implement plans using knowledge of product, system operation, engineering tools, and interactive software tools as required
  • Utilize technical communications throughout the new product cycle to improve externally sourced components in terms of system performance, reliability, functionality, and serviceability
  • Provide evaluation, constructive feedback and leadership in the development of internal and external engineering, manufacturing, or service documentation
  • Provide strong individual contributions in the context of achieving team goals
  • General direction is given in the execution of job related activities
  • Comply with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, quality, and compliance policies

Qualifications

  • Must be a full-time student, as defined by your school, pursuing a technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology, Biomedical Engineering or similar field
  • 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during spring/fall semesters or 40 hours/week during the summer months
  • Must be able to work at Waukesha, WI facility

Desired qualifications

  • Experience in the trades, mechanical and/or electrical
  • Experience in Cadence or related electrical layout design software (ECAD)
  • Basic understanding of a programing language
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Electrical or Biomedical Design Engineering areas
  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for learning
  • Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving
