As our next, you’ll be at the forefront of analyzing, concepting, and designing innovative production automation solutions. Your expertise in mechanical design, robotics, and automation will be key in developing advanced systems that drive efficiency and quality across manufacturing operations.

• Perform engineering calculations (materials strength, speeds, horsepower, force, pressure, etc.)
• Analyze designs for compliance with safety and industry standards
• Collaborate with electrical designers on system requirements
• Select purchase components for assemblies and manage requisitions
• Create detailed drawings, bills of materials, and models using SolidWorks
• Assist manufacturing teams with issues during build, debug, and project integration
• Communicate with customers, technical staff, and vendors for specifications and changes
• Provide accurate time/resource estimates and track progress for project managers
• Supervise mechanical design efforts and delegate tasks at a project level
• Support proposals and estimating design labor hours
• Help develop departmental and design standards
• Periodically oversee Co-op students and Junior Designers
• Organize project documentation (quotes, drawings, schedules, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with health and safety rules
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in special-purpose equipment and/or automation design
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (required)
• Experience with robotic cells and assembly systems (preferred)
• Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical devices (switches, load cells, LVDTs, etc.)
• Working knowledge of common machine shop techniques (an asset)
• Strong conceptual design and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) across all organizational levels
• High level of integrity, dependability, and results orientation
• Hands-on experience with robotic automation projects
• Strong background in Design forManufacture/Maintenance
• Proven leadership in supervising design teams
