As ayou’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the sewer collection system on an assigned shift or emergency basis. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain equipment including but not limited to backhoe, excavator, CCTV truck, skid steer, and vactor/jetter truck, and equipment used in trenchwork.
- Clean and clear sewer lines.
- Repair sewer lines.
- Adjust manhole covers and replace manhole frames.
- Inspect, camera, repair, and maintain flowing conditions in the sewer system.
- Perform operation and maintenance tasks at the landfill South End Disposal Area (SEDA) and pump stations around the City.
- Complete work orders and field complaint forms.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Possess valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class B)
- Knowledge of sewer collection system and tools, equipment, materials used to maintain and repair system.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to be on-call.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Approved courses in sewer collection systems.
- Safe work practices.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
