Job Title:Credit Risk, Financial Institutions


Corporate Title:Analyst/Associate

The Financial Institutions (FI) Credit team is part of Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) Credit which manages and is responsible for analysis and delivering credit underwriting debt financing solutions and derivative strategies for large corporate and FI clients. You will also be managing Bank, Sovereign, Supranational, Broker-Dealer, Insurance and Asset Management client segments. The FI team (Banks + Non-Bank FI) is responsible for all aspects of effective credit management and trading risk exposures within established limit, tenor, and documentation parameters, together with providing risk assessment, transaction structuring, deal execution and credit risk profile monitoring for the Banks FI clients within EMEA.

Role Description:

You will be partnering with teams globally, including Corporate and Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Global Treasury Management to drive revenue growth while maintaining appropriate risk discipline specific to the FI credit portfolio, effectively manage and monitor the credit, market and operational risks related to the corporate portfolio. The team also engages closely with, but independently of Risk partners, Legal, Operations, Compliance and other areas of the Bank.

  • You will be structuring, underwriting and documentation of credit facilities designed to meet both client and investor needs as well as balance the banks internal risk/return requirements.

  • Performing financial and credit analysis, risk rating analysis ensuring adherence to prevailing credit policy and procedures.

  • Assessing the credit worthiness, perform intensive qualitative and quantitative due diligence on industry and company factors and establish appropriate terms and conditions to mitigate risk.

  • Research, write and present financial and industry analyses in support of company specific and portfolio level decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate transaction and relationship risk-adjusted profitability to facilitate the allocation of capital.

  • Monitor and manage all elements of the bank credit exposure to its clients across its international network, including periodically reassessing internally assigned risk ratings.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product spectrum and the portfolio at the client, industry, and macro level in order to assess risk and craft value added solutions that balance risk.

  • Establish appropriate internal risk ratings for clients and implement accurate adjustments throughout the client’s credit life cycle.

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant prior experience in financial services, preferably roles within credit risk management, where you have demonstrated an ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate credit risk to FI clients.

  • Risk judgment and broader risk awareness and understanding of the wider business, market and regulatory environment in which the bank operates, and how this impacts client and portfolio’s credit profile and ability to defend rigorously a fact-based point of view.

  • Commercial mindset to support value added discussions within GCIB Credit and Relationship Managers.

  • Strong team player & organizational skills with ability to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines..
