Your responsibilities will include:

  • Apply principles of Mechanical engineering, Physics, and Material Science to perform data driven development, optimization, and evaluation of novel or iterative designs based on customer and business needs.
  • Defines and implements specifications, inputs/outputs, working parameters, and test methods using current best practice engineering methods and technologies.
  • Assesses design risks and mitigations through tools such as FMEA, Fault tree, etc.
  • Works closely with other key BSC engineering groups (Systems, Electrical, Human Factors, Packaging, Process Development, Manufacturing, etc.) to ensure robust holistic device / component design.
  • Leverages key internal and external specialty resources to address complex design issues.
  • Creates robust documentation of requirements, protocols, evaluations, reports, etc. by writing clear and concise documents and filing per approved procedures and standards.
  • Tracks engineering effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.
  • Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
  • Provides training and guidance to Technicians and other project support personnel on specific project activities.
  • Mentors junior technical staff (Interns, E1 level) in design engineering activities/methodologies and domain knowledge.
  • Contributes to a strong team culture around high expectations and high performance
  • Provides clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or similar degree.
  • Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 6+ Years with BS, 5+ Years with MS
  • Experience in design, development, test, and engineering documentation
  • Experience managing technical aspects of projects as a member of a cross-functional core team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive individual workstreams within a large-scale development program
  • Solid clinical knowledge and experience in cardiovascular anatomy.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experienced with multi-faceted technology and product development programs
  • Class II or Class III Medical Device product development experience
  • Solid experimental design and statistical analysis knowledge
  • Prior material selection experience for implantable devices
