The person hired for the position of Transportation Safety Sales Specialist will be responsible for meeting sales objectives by providing sales coverage in part of the State of Texas and the whole State of Oklahoma.

As a Transportation Safety Sales Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Achieving Sales Goals and Objectives in the assigned territory.
  • Focusing on the enhancement of transportation safety specifications across various government levels including the State Department of Transportation, Cities and Counties.
  • Calling on customers within assigned area or accounts
  • Participate in and sell at trade shows and conferences.
  • Develop and implement effective sales plans.
  • Prepare administrative reports and presentations.
  • Occasional nighttime work in construction work zones.
  • Influencing decision-makers and stakeholders in upgrading their sheeting and pavement marking specifications.

This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position.


To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher(completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of outside selling experiencein a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, valid Driver’s License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration.
  • Minimum three years in sales to government agencies or departments of transportation.
  • Market territory account management experience is preferred.
  • Expert consultative selling skills in establishing specifications and standards.
  • Strong understanding of public sector sales processes.
  • Excellent computer skills, planning and organizational skills.
