This Associate R&D Manager position will be based in Maple Grove, MN.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership, management, and mentoring to R&D Technicians and Technology Specialists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Supports team members in career development and attaining their career goals, developing direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, providing constructive feedback, and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
- Motivates individual team members to achieve results and works with them in resolving challenges.
- Leads strategy and execution for identifying and developing Technician and Technology Specialist talent for IO&E, ensuring appropriate staffing and skillsets to support current and future needs.
- Works closely with management across IO&E project teams to understand Technician and Technology Specialist staffing needs and ensure projects are appropriately supported for success, resolving priority conflicts when they arise.
- Contributes to developing and monitoring of department budgets, determining appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources, and preparing and managing resource plans for R&D initiatives.
- Provides management oversight for one or more R&D laboratories, including a new R&D lab being built for the TheraSphere Y90 R&D team, managing lab access, lab compliance to relevant procedures, supporting lab audits, calibration and maintenance of equipment, and other general laboratory management responsibilities.
- Leads the development of test methods and prototyping capabilities to meet the needs of IO&E project teams. This could include customer demonstration models, engineering test methods, and/or overseeing test method validation.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 4+ years of experience in a regulated industry
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical staff
- Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline
- Experience in medical device industry on a product development project, including experience with prototyping technologies, test method development, and product development lifecycle documentation and processes.
- 1+ years of people leadership and supervisory experience
- Experience managing a research and development lab.
