Your impact

We’re looking for an emerging Scientist, Geologist, Engineer or Planner to provide technical support on projects using your understanding of permitting, chemistry, water and soil sampling, and laboratory analytical methods.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California, you'll learn the water permitting requirements of City and California State Water Board agencies as well as project specific processes, communication pathways, and a complex program structure. During your time with us, you will manage up to 50 permitting projects per year, including being involved in planning, construction, and permit closeout phases. You’ll prepare permit applications, sampling plans, discharge summaries, soil and water management plans, and permit closeout documents. You’ll be juggling multiple tasks, so we’ll rely on you to prioritize effectively, keeping the big picture in mind.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, or other closely related field
  • Professional on-the-job experience related to environmental consulting and/or regulatory agency experience and experience working directly with clients
  • Knowledge and experience with permitting related to various media (e.g., groundwater and surface water)
  • Experience working independently and effectively with a diverse project team, including clients, construction teams, engineers, planners, and biologists, and regulatory agency representatives
  • Ability to communicate concisely and proactively with coworkers, contractors and clients
  • Ability to adaptively manage project and schedule changes
  • Strong communication and prioritization skills with ability to balance work on multiple projects simultaneously

Estimated travel requirement is approximately 5-10% around Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, generally related to job walks and inspections.
