What You'll Do

1. Develop and maintain reusable UI components that power Uber's extensive web ecosystem.
2. Create tools to enhance developer productivity and product quality.
3. Build sophisticated web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks and tools, such as React.js, Redux, ES2018+, RPC, and Node.js.
4. Collaborate with a cross-functional team, including designers and backend/mobile engineers, to deliver impactful products.
5. Optimize applications for performance, usability, and functionality through experimentation and data analysis.

Basic Qualifications

1. Strong JavaScript skills.
2. Solid understanding of core web technologies: HTTP, HTML, CSS, and Web APIs.
3. Familiarity with web security concepts like CORS, CSP, CSRF, and XSS.
4. Experience building performant, responsive, accessible, and well-documented web applications.
5. Effective communicator and collaborator, open to feedback and learning from others.
6. Passion for mentoring and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications

1. 3 years of software engineering experience.
2. You have advanced JavaScript expertise.
3. You're passionate about web accessibility.
4. You enjoy building reusable components and libraries.
5. You have experience in Web/Visual Design, UI/UX, or HCI.
6. You're skilled in testing and auditing web accessibility with tools like JAWS, VoiceOver, or TalkBack.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
