Transportation Drainage Engineerwith +10-15 years of experience in our Greenwood Village, Colorado office to support our highway, bridge, and transit projects throughout Colorado and the western United States.
As a Senior Transportation Drainage Engineer, you will use your experience to lead our drainage discipline teams on our transportation projects in a collaborative and fast paced environment. Your typical work assignments may include onsite storm drainage analysis and design, offsite cross drainage and floodplain hydraulic impacts analysis and design, erosion control, water quality analysis, preparation of technical reports and memoranda, preparation of construction plans, estimates, and specifications (PS&E), and participating in business development efforts as required. In this role, you will have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the creation and development of storm drainage studies and plans for complex, multidisciplinary traditional PS&E, schematics and feasibility analyses, and/or Design-Build projects with CDOT and other transportation / public works agencies. In this role you’ll:
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for drainage studies and detailed drainage design aspects in a multidiscipline fast track design-build and/or traditional delivery transportation related projects.
• Identify solutions to a variety of engineering and drainage design challenges.
• Manage drainage design PS&E packages and H&H floodplain impacts studies.
• Assign tasks and provide guidance and mentorship to drainage design team members, and coordinate QC reviews for project key milestone deliverables.
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as well as decisions on technical direction on the project as needed or requested.
• Participate in design review and coordination meetings internally and externally.
• Perform design and hydraulic modeling on all project aspects associated with conceptual planning, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of construction plans.
• Work with other Jacobs offices in a multi-projects delivery environment.
• Communicate effectively and coordinate all drainage design phases of a project with other team disciplines.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent.
• Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado
• 10+ years of experience in detailed onsite drainage design and H&H offsite modeling and studies working on mid-scale large-scale transportation projects.
• Experience with design software such as GIS (ArcMap), AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, HEC HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox.
• Experience designing highway and other transportation drainage systems, erosion control measures, and water quality measures.
• Experience with hydrology and hydraulics for river systems, 1D and 2D, and FEMA permitting, coordination, and flood map revisions.
• Experience working with CDOT projects.
• Demonstrated strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and capable of working with internal colleagues, clients, contractors, and regulatory agency staff.
• Team oriented with strong capability to learn, mentor, and work independently while managing time and budget.
Ideally, you'll also have:
• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent.
• NCEES Records.
• Previous experience working on alternative delivery (Design-Build and PPP) transportation projects in excess of $500M construction cost.
