The Area Treasurer coordinates overall Treasury matters across Regions/member firms in the Area. Responsible for developing and implementing Treasury policies and procedures that meet EY’s global network Finance objectives and external regulatory requirements. Provides leadership and direction to staff members in the Finance Advisory Centers that provide finance support for Regions/member firms in the Area.

Key responsibilities

  • Cash management (Financing, Investments)
  • Builds credible and effective relationships across the Area Chief Financial Officer’s management team, as well as other key executives and contributes effectively to the Area’s full breadth of strategic discussions and business initiatives
  • Works closely with senior leadership (Area/Region/Member Firm) to determine credit needs of entities and provides advice/guidance to obtain required funds including private placements, revolving/term credit facilities and partnership loan financing
    • Facilitates working capital facility requests of member firms, working with banks, Global Treasury and MFs
    • Liaise with banks to negotiate key terms and finalize bank loan arrangements to ensure alliance with Global protocol
    • Continuously communicates with MFs to assist on financing projects and provide recommendations for debt/liquidity stack
    • Facilitates partner capital loan programs of member firms, constantly looking for competitive providers
  • Maintains open dialogue with all banks to keep abreast of market conditions and maintain smooth working relationships; explore opportunities to reduce cost of funds on borrowings and increase rate of return on investments
    • In conjunction with Area Finance CFO, provides guidance on acceptable investment instruments and financial institutions leveraging Global guidance; advises management on investments and loans for short-and long-range financial plans
    • Provides guidance regarding managing interest rate, credit, and concentration risks
    • Identifies new banks to diversify pool of credit providers across the organization; introduce Global banking partners to local teams
  • Arranges demand loans/deposits between EYGF and member firms
  • Operations
    • Works with MFs to enhance cash flow forecasting (TEMPLATE TO BE PROVIDED)
    • Enforces cash reporting and quarterly facility summary at Area level (via standard template)
    • Monitors Global Treasury Tool (GTT) weekly progress reports at MFs
    • Maintains records on external financings and credit enhancements
    • Liaise with Finance and Global Treasury to advise budget rates, currency risk mitigation strategies
    • Assimilates information gathered from internal and external sources (i.e., periodicals, bank economists, balance sheet and production cash flow) and present hedging recommendations to senior management
    • Achieves strong and disciplined execution backed by the mindset as well as tools to measure effectiveness and rapidly optimize the approach based on results
  • Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with HSBC umbrella credit facility covenants
    • In conjunction with EY Independence, advises business units on policy compliance regarding financing transactions or Treasury related operations
    • Monitors overall compliance with firm policy and remediates issues where required
    • Helps lead a top-notch Treasury team with a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves approach, motivating the strong talent currently on board and selectively adding talent as and when warranted
  • Performs special projects as needed (for example, MSCo infrastructure set-up, Finance/Treasury Transformation)
  • Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
    • This position is expected to work independently and will coordinate the Treasury function across the Area.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Proficiency with Treasury workstations and banking systems a significant plus
  • Knowledge of working capital drivers and business cash flow for forecasting responsibilities
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Power BI (and/or other similar software) a plus
  • Self-starter, attention to detail and persistence are critical traits
  • Ability to prioritize projects, train staff, and work under pressure
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to counsel senior leadership

Supervision Responsibilities

  • This position coordinates the Treasury Function across the member firms in the Area.
  • This role will lead the Treasury support from the Finance Advisory Center/Treasury Shared Services (NOTE: aligned with Area Finance/Enablement Transformation efforts, GDS Evolution, etc.)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Degree preferred
  • 10 to 12 years of Treasury or Finance experience with at least 8 of management experience
