Your key responsibilities
As a Health/Biological Sciences Senior Consultant, we'll help you achieve your potential by supporting your professional development and giving you the experience of working with clients within our Government and Public Sector. You’ll have the opportunity to build your skills, while also working in multidisciplinary teams, often directly with leaders of major organizations, bringing diverse perspectives to every challenge. You’ll be responsible for the following:
- Provide advisory support on advanced science & technology efforts focused on public health, infectious disease, and epidemiology topics
- Provide input to government clients by researching and recommending new solutions and developing plans
- Collaborate with government clients and international partners on project planning and implementation of solutions
- Provide independent analysis and assessment of data and research results
- Provide in-depth feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of project plans, objectives, and methodologies
- Develop workshops and other planning sessions to achieve program objectives
- Develop and track metrics and key performance indicators
- Develop briefings, reports, and other presentations to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to a broad range of stakeholders
- Review, assess, define, and provide recommendations to mitigate technical and schedule risk for projects
- Establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships
- Identify innovative insights for clients, adapt methods and practices to fit operational team and cultural needs, and contribute to thought leadership
- Contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives
- Communicate effectively with EY engagement partners and managers
- Anticipate and identify risks; escalate any issues as appropriate
- Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff; help create a positive learning culture
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
Skills and attributes for success
You will ideally have previous exposure to consulting, and a keen interest in advising the US government and public sector. You should have strong communication skills, and business and technology acumen, and have a passion for delivering value to our clients.
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor’s degree
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in public health, laboratory sciences, infectious disease, epidemiology, immunology, virology, or related fields
- Experience fostering strong relationships with clients
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher, which will be driven by the engagement requirement
- Must be comfortable working in-person in the greater Washington, DC area as needed
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience working in global management consulting firm or technology company focused on the government and public sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with clients and team members
What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $176,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,500 to $200,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
