Your Role and Responsibilities
Who you are:
Are you someone who is inquisitive ? Who likes to break things ? Are you interested in working on the latest Z hardware and latest z/OS releases ?
This position is for z/OS systems programmer role

What you’ll do:
As a z/OS systems programmer, you will be responsible for:

  • Configure and maintain zOS test environments for internal IBM development and test teams.
  • Using the z/OS, operating system install, customize and maintain support of mainframe hardware, software and operational procedures used by development teams as well as installation and customization of program products.
  • Basic knowledge of zOS
  • Knowledge of JCL, REXX, JES2, RACF, SMP/E, TCP/IP, ISPF
  • ISPF, SDSF, SMP/E, RACF, ISMF, USS, etc. z/OS installation and its products.
  • Familiar with System z hardware
  • Familiar with software debugging
  • Planning hardware and software system upgrades and changes in configuration
  • zOS Automating operations
  • Running installation jobs and scripts on zOS
  • Performing installation-specific customization tasks
  • System-wide performance tuning
  • Install and maintain middle ware product
  • Support US development and test teams


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Required Technical and Professional Expertise with relevant experience of 5-10 years:

  • Comfortable working with zOS or Linux Operating system. Preferably on a Z system (s390x)
  • Exposure to zOS is needed or preferred
  • Experience building pipelines for automation servers such as Jenkins, Ansible autoamation framework etc
  • Skilled in a automation scripting language. Python, Ansible or bash is preferred.
  • Very good Debugging skills
  • Quick learner and a strong team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self Driven and Proven ability to work effectively in a global team environment.
  • Good decision making skill
  • Should be ready to work on US timing between – 8AM or 9AM EST to 4PM or 5PM EST.
